Before you begin

This tool provides general guidance only. It does not diagnose your pet or replace professional veterinary advice. Always consult a licensed veterinarian for your pet's health, especially in emergencies.

How this tool works

Symptoms are scored by severity and cross-referenced against known veterinary triage guidelines. Dangerous combinations, such as bloating with restlessness in large dogs, open-mouth breathing in cats, or pale gums alongside lethargy, automatically escalate to emergency level regardless of individual symptom scores.

Breed and age modifiers are applied: flat-faced breeds (Bulldogs, Pugs, Persians) escalate respiratory symptoms; large deep-chested dogs escalate bloat symptoms; puppies and seniors escalate any moderate symptom to urgent.

This tool does not diagnose. It is a triage guide to help you decide how quickly your pet needs professional care. When in doubt, always call your vet.
